How ObamaCare Hurts Obama

The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to uphold the guts of Obama's healthcare scheme, courtesy of a Bush-appointed justice named John Roberts, actually hurts the Obama campaign and helps Republicans. A recent Rasmussen poll shows 54% of likely American voters would like to see ObamaCare repealed. With all hope now lost in defeating Obama's plan, voters have only one choice left in repealing the draconian healthcare measures: Republicans and Mitt Romney.

ObamaCare forces all Americans, rich or poor, to purchase health coverage from private insurance companies. When Obama and Democrats set out to draft a universal healthcare plan, they decided against a public option. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that ObamaCare and its tax penalty for those not covered is constitutional, amidst sturdy opposition from Republicans.

South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley, was one of the first to speak out against the SCOTUS ruling by pointing out the increased tax burden on average Americans. This new fine for anyone who is not covered will be called a "tax" and it is expected to affect over 23 million Americans, according to a study by The Urban Institute.

Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, told News Max that “This bill was sold on a deception and the deception was that the bill was not a tax. The Supreme Court made it clear that the bill is a tax, one of the biggest tax increases in American history.”

Louisianna Governor, Bobby Jindal, claims he will refuse to enact Obamacare in his state, raising the question of whether governors can block the measure.

Democrats were quick to hail the decision as a victory. House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, turned to the absurd when she stated that late senator, Ted Kennedy, could "now rest in peace" following the decision.

Stocks for hospitals and insurance companies saw sharp upward spikes following what has been called a suprise ruling by a majority conservative Supreme Court.

The rhetoric amongst Republicans is hot. Romney and House Majority Leader, Boehner, have both vowed to repeal ObamaCare as soon as possible. The SCOTUS decision has been viewed as fresh ammunition for Republicans and a possible weakness for Democrats, as the Rasmussen poll suggests. Had the SCOTUS struck down ObamaCare, Republicans may still have had much to run on, but the decision on June 28th was the best they could have asked for.

Had SCOTUS ruled against ObamaCare, Americans may have felt less of a need to turn to Republicans for a solution. The job of the Supreme Court is to uphold the constitution. By declaring a new tax, at a time when taxes are becoming increasingly less popular, the electorate is forced into a corner, leaving only one alternative: democracy. An opposite SCOTUS ruling would have also had Republicans briefly gloating and Democrats frowning, but would have made Americans more faithful in the Supreme Court to save them from draconian laws and taxation, rather than their elected Republicans.

As the Rasmussen poll suggests, ObamaCare is a major disadvantage for Democrats, regardless of the SCOTUS decision.

Many conservative bloggers and pundits have lamented Justice Roberts for his decision. But, his swing vote, which turned the tide in favor of ObamaCare, may have been a blessing for Mitt Romney.

As November nears and Democrats turn on the spin in an attempt to downplay America's new tax and their destruction of individual choice, Republicans can make large gains if they play their own spin game correctly. This election will be about the economy, and levying a massive tax on businesses and struggling families may play out as an unforgivable sin.
